LIFE WORKS PERSONAL TRAINING

What I do isn’t just about helping you build an unbreakable back — it’s about helping you start a new chapter in your life.

Neil Fox's Journey

is one of resilience, determination, and an unwavering commitment to helping others thrive. As a Kinesiologist and Certified Personal Trainer with 27 years of experience, Neil has dedicated his life to improving the physical and mental well-being of his clients. His passion for movement and fitness began early, leading him to earn a Bachelor of Kinesiology from McMaster University in 1997. He worked with elite athletes, honing his expertise in strength and conditioning, but it was a life-altering event in 2002 that truly shaped his mission.

While mountain biking, Neil suffered a catastrophic accident that left him quadriplegic. Doctors offered little hope for recovery, but Neil refused to accept those limitations. Through relentless effort, he not only regained mobility but also returned to professional-level racing—an achievement that speaks to his grit and determination. This transformative experience gave Neil a unique perspective on overcoming adversity and inspired him to help others do the same.

In 2003, Neil founded Life Works Personal Training, specializing in helping active individuals over 50 manage lower back pain and build durable, pain-free lives. Drawing on his own experiences and extensive knowledge, he developed the BAM system (Bum, Abs, Mid-back), a core-strengthening approach designed to improve movement efficiency and reduce pain. His programs are tailored to address the unique needs of mature athletes, focusing on durability, longevity, and resilience.

Neil’s work has earned him widespread recognition, including the Canadian Personal Trainers Network Award of Merit for his contributions to fitness. His programs, like the "28-Day Durability Challenge" and the "Unbreakable Back Mini-Course," have helped countless clients regain their strength and confidence. He also shares his expertise through resources like the guidebook "Build an Unbreakable Back in 5 Steps," which offers practical tools such as a 10-minute morning ritual to reduce pain and improve mobility.

Beyond his professional achievements, Neil is a devoted father to his 9-year-old son, with whom he shares a love of sports, creativity, and adventure. His philosophy, rooted in resilience and continuous learning, extends beyond fitness—he believes in empowering his clients to embrace challenges, learn from setbacks, and create lives they love.

Today, Neil continues to inspire and transform lives through his personalized coaching and innovative programs, proving that with determination and the right approach, it’s possible to overcome even the greatest obstacles and achieve lasting strength and vitality.

Neil Fox’s Method

is a unique, science-based approach designed to help active individuals over 50 build durable, pain-free backs. At the core of his method is the BAM system—Bum, Abs, and Mid-back—a framework that targets key areas to enhance core strength, improve movement efficiency, and reduce back pain. His approach begins with a personalized movement assessment, using the "warped mountain bike tire" metaphor to identify imbalances—loose spokes (instability) and tight spokes (restrictions)—providing a clear and relatable way to understand the body’s mechanics.

Neil’s programs emphasize movement preparation, core strengthening, and muscle density to create long-term durability. Designed to fit seamlessly into a busy lifestyle, his exercises require just 30 minutes, three times a week, with minimal equipment like light dumbbells and mini-bands. For frequent travelers, he offers portable workout solutions to ensure consistency.

His method also integrates daily habits, such as a 10-minute morning ritual to reduce back pain and improve mobility, alongside strategies for inflammation reduction and recovery. Clients benefit from one-on-one ZOOM sessions, bi-weekly custom plans, and monthly progress check-ins, ensuring their programs evolve with their needs.

Neil’s method is holistic, practical, and deeply empathetic, drawing from his own journey of overcoming adversity. It’s designed not just to alleviate pain but to empower clients to live active, vibrant lives with confidence and resilience.

A New Approach to Active Living After 50

My philosophy is grounded in the belief that building strength and resilience after 50 should simplify your life, not overwhelm it. I focus on personalized, time-efficient programs that address imbalances, strengthen your core with the BAM system, and seamlessly fit into your active lifestyle, empowering you to move well, ache less, and live fully.

Instead of quick fixes or rigid plans, Neil Fox’s approach builds lasting strength and resilience through the BAM system—Bum, Abs, and Mid-back. By addressing movement imbalances with a personalized assessment and creating time-efficient, portable programs, he helps clients move well, ache less, and maintain active, vibrant lifestyles without disrupting their routines.

Because you deserve to feel as strong, active, and pain-free in your body as you are adventurous and vibrant in your life.
